OM MANI PADME HUM
The Ones With Inflated Pride And Bloated Ego Suffer Terribly In Silent
Do you see their true nature? Can you guess what kinds of suffering that they have to bear whenever they are alone? Pity them for their pride and their ignorance and the great hollowness that lie within. Behind the happy facade lies the tormenting heart that yearns to be heard, to be consoled, but yet the way to reach others for help is blocked by his own pride and folly. They are to suffer it all alone!
Those who know of their plights may go about giving some form of assistance to draw them away from their agony. By indirect means they may offer good company and so on, but this is only for a time being and the real help is absent because loneliness strikes their hearts only when they are alone. Pray for this group of people and wish them happiness.
Able to Give Help But Refrain From Doing?
To know that you are the one who can give help but yet refrain from doing so, it is indeed a terrible thing; to know that by your help you could give relief but yet you refrain to do so, is an evil act, an act of wishing to see others suffer. But for what reasons? Because they are guilty of some bad mistakes which you feel are unforgivable? Whenever you feel so you are lacking in compassion and failing to see the truth, you have not recognised or realised that this is the state of being for all creatures of Samsara. They will set causes to harm themselves through the circumstances and conditions that surround them. They are caught in a maze and do not know how to get out and so like a blind man he gropes for the way out in an unfamiliar surrounding.
The Vicious Cycle of Hurt And Unforgiveness
To forgive others is much easier than to forgive those whom you love who have caused you hurt. By your being hurt at the faults of your own loved ones, you form a crust of resistance to forgive, you will become spiteful and so the cycle of suffering for both your own self and those who have caused pain to you begins. Once the wheel turns, it will take some time for it to stop. Once others begin to fan your anger further, the momentum begins to gather and if, at this point, you do not check your mind, you will be filled with hatred and stupidity, and the possibility to forgive, to practise mercy, understanding and loving kindness will fizzle away. Those who practise the doctrine with partiality or with discrimination will be guilty of causing harm and hurt to those who have no knowledge of it, they will accumulate a negative karma.
Replace Others’ Stupid Acts With One’s Loving-kindness and Compassion
Whenever you are hurt, whenever your pride has been hurt, whenever your heart has been pained by some stupid acts committed by others, you have not understood the teachings of the Buddha, you have missed out the understanding of what compassion and loving kindness is, you have missed the chance to take this opportunity to go one step ahead by your judging mind! Beware, the way of the dharma-farers is filled with situations such as this which may be too subtle for most to see the point, their practice becomes negative and compassion is replaced by anger and hatred which seems so justifiable! By a single act such as this which is caused by your own failing to be mindful, you become one who walks aimlessly on the path for the period of time until awakening to the truth happens! Be calm then at each situation in life. Just as you do not wish to be hated but to be loved, all other beings too feel the same way. Just as they commit a wrong which may be seen to be unforgivable, you too may someday commit such an error and hope to be understood, to be forgiven and given another chance. This is samsaric condition.
View With A Calm Mind When Wronged and Regard The Perpetrator As Your Loving Mother
The desires with all beings are too great and so they do wrong things over and over again without knowing how to stop the chain of wrong doings! So only a calm mind will be able to see clearly, will not be judgemental, will be ready to understand and with a sigh, not of anger, but love, you must move towards them to reach them, to give them the chance that they need so that they will change by love and advice or they will remain unchanged because the whole world, even those nearest to them do not see their points of views, are not sympathetic, are so unforgiving! How painful for them. How painful for you who are able to see their mistakes and point fingers at them. Do not forget that each being has been your mother at one lifetime or the other. No being can hate his mother for even the most grievous wrong that is done with a weak mind. No being can have the right to point his finger at the one who is his mother and who has given life to him so that he has the opportunity to cultivate. No one may point a finger at a mother unless he is filled with delusion and is a barbarian in whose heart forgiving and patience to sensual weaknesses are unheard of. The ones who do so cannot be a practising Kuan Shih Yin devotee, they are too cold and their compassionate nature has not flowered yet!
Cultivate and Spread Love Instead of Hate
The tears of Kuan Shih Yin fall ever so often at the evils of those who know but not at the ignorant ones. The heart of Kuan Shih Yin has split ever so often at the sight of hard-hearted ones who do not forgive but expect to be forgiven. The mind of Kuan Shih Yin is ever in pains to see pilgrims on the Path of Love cultivating hate instead. The tears of Kuan Shih Yin have been shed through the eyes of countless beings and in their hearts too, the great pains of the Great Compassionate One are felt!
Open Your Heart To Offer Love To All Humanity
Each time you see a crying mother, you should be caused to shed a tear. When you see a son cursing or beating his mother, your tears should well-up in your eyes even though you know that the mother has done some harm to the son, but you must know that no mother with a right mind would wish any harm to come to the son. Reach out and do your part then. Console, advise, offer all kinds of help that you think should be given and see that you can lessen the present and future pains for them. When an opportunity arises where you can offer forgiveness, do not miss it. Walking the path of love will always bring you tearful sights which are meant to open up your heart to be given to all humanity, to realise Kuan Yin!
