This is a day dedicated to prayers and love and devotion for the Guru and one’s own guru must be reflected upon. Those who see their gurus in their outer forms have lost their insight and will gradually lose their honour and respect for them. And they become undeserving disciples who have not truly understood the deeper meaning of what a guru is. Taking a wrong view, they will not see the truth and then they will lose respect for their teachers, thus losing their own ways.
On this memorable day, one should sit in quiet contemplation and look into the finer and unshown qualities of his own guru. Should develop a deeper affection and understand that outer forms and behaviours are to be discarded as worldly views. The guru does not come into your life simply and therefore even if you should have one whose appearances and mannerisms are not to your liking, it is entirely up to you to ponder on why and how you have chosen one such as him. And when you are able to see the true personality and perceive his inner qualities, you will realise that your very own repressed and inferior mind has indulged in fault-finding, has been greedy for love and other kinds of expectations which when unfulfilled will leave your mind with rebellious thoughts. This may lead to the grave danger of losing a master whom you have taken a lifetime to reach and having found him discards him!
