Develop the habit of sitting in self-analysis and seeing your faults clearly, then make an honest effort to correct yourself. Avoiding the truth will only hold you back, and peace of mind can never be attained.
Covering up your faults and guilt is easy; being honest in knowing oneself is indeed difficult! Learn to speak well of others, or at least refrain from discussing their faults. Peace of mind cannot be attained when there is anger, hatred, envy, or ill-will towards others. Practise good-will!
