- Overcome difficulties as the lessons of life
- Realise the pure and true self

OM MANI PADME HUM

I shall protect, I shall test, I shall tease, I shall mould, and I shall pat those who seek to find the pure self by any means suitable so as to point the way to enlightenment, so as to open the true nature so that the one who seeks the Way must go through such a probationary period.

He must be ready to cleanse his heart and remove all kinds of low desires that are in him so that high aspirations will prevail and then impure thoughts will be replaced by high ideals! Only when such a state of being is achieved may anyone be ready to face Me and really do work in My name with a mind which is serene and with a heart which is unaffected by emotions. Just that the qualities of wisdom, compassion, joy and equanimity are realised.

Cultivation is a great struggle to practise discipline and to seek the knowledge through understanding and through conquering the self, from the lowest aspect to the highest so that each day is an opportunity for one to pursue the goal relentlessly. One must not be distracted by the illusions of the world but must go forward, searching for the true life which is illusion free. If any of you should allow yourself to be captivated, dazzled, and confused while the search is on, then the vices of the lower self will become the master of the self and the higher self will always be the slave of the lower, so that this life and even future lives will be gravely affected. The temptations of life will be many, they are the battle grounds of the cultivators and many will not be able to face such struggles and end up with a weakened mind, and they may end up forsaking the mission of a lifetime and lose his character to these vices.

Each one who is true to the path must therefore be always on guard of the temptations of the day so that one must ever be mindful by practising awareness. One must understand one’s own weaknesses and guard against them and at the same time try to build up the opposite virtues into his own character so that such weaknesses in the form of vices will no longer be in control of his mind. With constant practice through persistence in effort, all vices will eventually disappear and then one is ready to face the world with eyes that see and ears that hear. And in this stage of being, he will be able to help others, he is on the path of Bodhisattvahood, he is ready to become my disciple!

Therefore, when one is going through any form of difficulty, one must never despair and fall into wrong thoughts and entertain wrong understanding and be led to believe that Kuan Yin is not protecting him, has not protected him, and will not protect him. For I shall put them to tests, to severe tests if they seek to become true disciples and they must make sure of overcoming such difficulties in order to ensure progress in the midst of temptations and illusions by destroying them through faith and wisdom with Right Knowledge and Right Endeavour and by the discipline of the will. One must conquer and destroy the lower desires of life before the higher self can be realised with a mind which is able to act through the bonds of the evils of hate, lust and illusions which have clouded and cut off the true self from sentient beings. Whenever difficulties arise, face them squarely and boldly, and with a calm mind seek to overcome them so that such experiences will be the lessons of life which will bring forth Wisdom, Endurance, Understanding and Faith!
