Out of joy, bliss arises. To know bliss is to experience great love, great happiness and great calm. Contentment is felt and then the whole world will be yours to enjoy. There is only love and hatred is lost. Living becomes meaningful and each moment is not lost. One becomes the experience of all that happiness and then life is lived fully from moment to moment.
Who would want to cause misery to others? Pain is real and difficult to endure. Does anyone love pain? Is anyone free from pain? Know well that only a scarce few will know the joys of bliss and peace, the great multitude of the world are misery inclined.
By their own nature, they will attract misery and pain. By their ignorance they will bring forth the fruition of past evil karma. By their own stupidity, they become immersed in the sea of suffering and do not even move to get out of the poisoned water that dulls their minds. Those who can see this truth, how painful will they feel, how much they would like to save these miserable beings. How can they ever think of inflicting pain to them at all?
Compassion arises and the desire to help such beings out of the troubled water becomes a great energy that will bring about the will to gain enlightenment for their sake. Then the way to enlightenment is adopted and then righteous living becomes a norm. Through this process of living a being’s mind is cleansed and developed. This process is called cultivation. It leads to liberation for oneself and then to others who are fortunate to be associated with such a person. Liberation is hard to gain. To gain it one has to remove all bonds and attachments, one must rid oneself of all the passions of life. At first it will seem so impossible. This only appears so to those who are impatient and hoped to become free overnight. Wisdom is needed and must be cultivated before liberation can be realised. With wisdom the way is easy to walk and all hindrances will be crossed over. Those who choose to walk this great path of righteousness will know great suffering. They must, because knowing will bring about the determination to overcome them, will cause them to feel the pains of others, will allow them to examine and investigate the nature of suffering and their root causes so that they will have the ability to overcome them, to overcome all hindrances and obstacles of the path.
To live with the view of attaining joy for self and others is to live with knowledge. It becomes a religion. Such a one needs not be dependent on the help of gods or men. He is self-sufficient, he knows the meaning of life, he knows the value of life!
