PRACTISE THAT WHICH IS GOOD

30 YiRu GuanYin

OM AME LAGA HUM

Practise with diligence whatever you have been taught. Live with meaning, with the principles that will cause harmony and happiness to others. Seek the path of deliverance through skilful means and wisdom and become one who is able to deliver other beings in all life times.

Develop the mind daily so that awareness is not far away. All thoughts lead to some actions and they are the root causes of good and evil karma. Destroy all that is evil within the mind so that only beneficent thoughts are entertained and put to practice.

Let each day be an opportunity to extinguish evil karma. The life of today has been the result of yesterday. How many evil acts have you committed them? There is no need to worry ahead of time, just live each day well with the mind to practise that which is good. This will result in past bad karmas to be repaid so that, in their places, good seeds are planted for the benefit of the future. With this aspiration how can a day be wasted? To have the opportunity to make good for the future, how grateful you should be. To have the good fortune to live in accord with the pure teachings, bow with reverence, before all great teachers and highly developed beings. They are the causes of happiness to all living creatures and they should be venerated.

To learn to show respect to sages and divine beings is to have right knowledge which will gain you right views in life. It will please heaven to have such a son on earth, one who will live for the sake of bringing happiness to the lives of others, one who will bring about positive and healing energy that will awaken man to realise his evil propensities. One among ten thousand will be able to develop such qualities, one among a hundred thousand will succeed in his effort, and one in a million will emerge as a great and beneficent one which earns him the rank of a god who deserves to be venerated. To enter into the rank of the Gods is easy enough but not really enough as far as cultivation goes. One should aspire to reach the stage of the Celestial Beings, an immortal that is beyond the influence of worldly attractions, one who has the heart of the Bodhisattva.

Again the same table applies, only one among ten thousand gods will hold such an inspiration, only one among a hundred thousand of such seekers will be able to succeed, and only one in a million of such successful ones will reach the highest state of being, that of the Celestial Immortal which is equivalent to a great Bodhisattva. Reflect on this deeply. To be one amongst men who has the heart to cultivate has already set one on the great path. To have such a candidacy has been due solely to past good practices. Do not waste lifetimes of effort and be weary of worldly temptations. Live righteously each day then, live within the influence of goodness as best as you can!
