The best teacher is one’s own life’s experiences, whether bitter or sweet, for they help to bring about awakenings to the true nature of life. Often, the bitter ones are the most effective because of one’s fear of the pains and disappointments of life. They provide the necessary energy for one to actively cultivate the causes of happiness. In truth, these bitter fruits are necessary, for they serve as medicine for the sick mind—the mind of Ignorance. Although they may appear distasteful because of their bitterness, yet after some time, a change can be felt, and sweetness will be tasted! Life is like that: at the end of bitterness, with right effort and understanding, sweetness is there.
