INTRODUCTION TO KYCO COMMUNITY SERVICE PROGRAMME (KYCO-CSP)
REACHING OUT THROUGH SERVICES
Our Community Service is a charitable arm within KYCO which was established to practise basic positive human virtues and values through “Reaching out” in service to the needy, aged, unwell and deprived.
Our projects encompass Vocational Skills Training, Food, Welfare and Provisions, Brighten-A-Home, Educational Assistance and Mentoring programmes and participation in disaster relief work. With these activities in mind, we welcome well-wishers from all walks of life to join us in giving hope, love, joy, peace and knowledge to these underprivileged groups. We are pleased to highlight some of our core community service programmes.

Vocational Skills Training
Vocational Skills Training
To improve the financial status of the more able, we have provided them with equipment, tools and training in areas of farming, sewing, bakery and rug-making. One programme, The Rug of Hope is aimed specifically at-stay-at-home mothers giving them the satisfaction of contributing and supplementing the household income. It encourages positive family bonding and an appreciation of being self-sufficient.

Welfare, Food & Provisions
Welfare, Food & Provisions
We contribute food and provisions to various shelter homes and urban poor families. These families often have one or more members who are aged, infirm and some with mental and/or physical challenges. Families with mental health issue continue to form a significant portion of the beneficiaries in this program.
Brighten-A-Home
Brighten-A-Home
The condition of families afflicted with mental illness is often reflected in their homes which have become unsightly, neglected, unsanitary and malodorous. In our Brighten a Home project, the selected families of these most extreme cases are given a home makeover by the team, CSP youth members, well-wishers and fellow neighbours. While drawing upon manpower to enliven the physical appearance of the homes and restore function, we also aim to alleviate their negative emotions and herald in joy and hope for a brighter tomorrow.

Education and Mentoring
Educational Assistance and Mentoring
We provide educational assistance for forsaken or abandoned children and students from single care givers or dysfunctional families who have fallen on hard times. Partnering with an education centre, we aspire to provide care, instill moral values, foster discipline and nurture academic progress.. Our CSP youth act as mentors to these children by providing inspiration and nurturing potentials in these young students. They lend an ear as well as counsel and console them with the ultimate goal of achieving a happier society.

The Vocational Skills Training project is directed towards urban poor care givers who sincerely wish to contribute to their family or to improve their financial status with assistance from KYCO-CSP Charity Arm.
The Kuan Yin Contemplative Order (KYCO) Trust Fund was set up with the objective of raising funds for the activities of the Kuan Yin Contemplative Order. These funds are used not only to maintain the building but also to support the many beneficial activities that bring hope and joy to humanity.
