RESPECT FOR UNIVERSAL LAW

33KuanYin 04

OM SARI HUM

The pains that human beings cause to oneself and other beings are tremendous. In a broad sense Ignorance is the cause of it all but how many truly recognise what is Ignorance?

It is not a matter of not knowing, for all that one does, one already have thought about and acted accordingly. If there were no teachings which explain what evil is, then Ignorance is quite forgivable, if there is no regret within one’s mind after performing some acts, then Ignorance may be there. But the ‘ifs’ are too many, and beings who have the mind to think will find easy excuses for their wretched acts, will therefore defend their actions and convince themselves that what they have done to others, have been done out of necessity and that revenge is justifiable or that defensive actions cannot be wrong. Those who hold such views are many and they are bound to face their consequences sooner or later. Human laws are there to warn the people not to take the laws into their own hands, and there will be appropriate punishment meted out for those who choose to be ignorant of such laws.

There are higher laws, Universal Laws which govern each being. They are not as imperfect as human laws, which have their loop holes, they are fixed and no amount of excuse or clever argument will get anyone out of repercussions, for every cause must have its effect. This Law holds true whether one has heard of it or not and those who are aware of it and choose to disbelieve it are only bringing greater sufferings to themselves. Human laws and natural instincts all point to this truth, so who can say that they are not aware of this Truth? Meditate then on how one suffers pains as a result of causing pains to others. If this is difficult, then look at those who are suffering and by looking even further, the Truth will soon be discovered. Those who still cannot see this truth clearly are either doing so wilfully or they are suffering from some form of mental retardation. Speak on the pains, ask questions and very easily all will know their own causes of pains and other sufferings.

All must refrain from causing hurt to others if they wish to have lesser pains in life. Since the present is but the reflection of past lives’ causes, then accept the fact that the future will be shaped by your present actions of body, speech and mind. Any act which has evil tendency should be feared. One must learn to be kind to others if he loves himself, for he will be the reaper of all the acts that he has done to others. Deeper thinking will help one to arrive at this truth, will help one to see life’s realities! Those who make use of their minds are therefore helping themselves and those who choose to let their minds lead them are the ones who will most likely end up in nightmares now and in the future. The mind is one’s best friend or enemy. Guard it, quell it, discipline it, and happiness will be before you, spiritual progress will be possible, and one will surely create better conditions for oneself. Those who heed this simple advice will shun evil, who will never wish harm upon others, will recognise what pain is, will feel the pains of others and he will follow the Kuan Yin Path!
